Few locations capture the beating heart and wonderment of Paris quite as well as Paris' 16th arrondissement, an area between the Trocadéro and Avenue des Champs-Elysées, where one of the most iconic monuments in the City of Lights lies. The impressive Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, honouring soldiers who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
Much of the 16th arrondissement is considered Old Paris, with charming refurbished historical buildings and quaint bistros, cafes and bakeries, or as it is known to the French, boulangeries. Just a 5-minute stroll down Avenue Kléber, towards the Boissière subway station and Arc de Triomphe, lies the Boulangerie Pâtisserie Coudrier Geffroy known for freshly baked pastries. Start your day here with a warm croissant and a cup of coffee, and enjoy the pastime of long conversation and people watching.
From the Charles de Gaulle Étoile, amble down the Avenue de Champs-Élysée for a shopping experience unlike any other. Rows of high-end stores sit among high street labels - a sight to behold, it is no wonder that the Champs-Élysée shopping strip is world-famous.
