This hotel is located a couple of hundred metres off road number 1 (Iceland's ring road) and close to a river. There is open countryside in all directions.The large rooms are some of the best in the whole of Iceland. Like the rest of the hotel they are constructed almost entirely of heavy rough-hewn and polished wood. They are cleverly furnished to create a luxurious but rustic feel. Both the rooms and the comprehensively equipped bathrooms are in exceptional condition.The restaurant is cosy and intimate.Although this is a relatively new hotel, it is built to resemble a traditional chalet, constructed almost entirely of heavy wooden beams.The lobby is small and welcoming.This is truly a fabulous hotel. Its peaceful location and impeccable quality of construction and service earn it, in this writers opinion, the title of best Icelandic country hotel.
