Unusually designed, it is a real treat for those looking for something with a contemporary twist and with public areas and bedrooms, which are some of the best in Taormina. The Monte Tauro's organic form seems to hang from the cliff, and the terraces echo its contours and the curves of the coast below. Ingeniously, built into the cliff face, only the Corridors are at the back, so that rooms and other areas can profit from the spectacular views, and there are interesting corners and rock gardens everywhere and an abundance of plants and flowers, which tumble over the balconies. Every detail has been finished with natural colours and wood, to give the hotel a very light feel. There is a comfortable and beautiful bar, with lovely paintings, on the walls. The à la carte restaurant serves excellent Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine and a superb breakfast. The beautiful pool and sun terraces seem to hang in mid-air.
