				<desc><![CDATA[Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge is 25 minutes from Penneshaw and is sheltered in a small fishing village overlooking the American River Bay. The Lodge is set on 7 acres over the bay at American River, epitomizing the pristine and delicate environment of Kangaroo Island, which sits just off the coast of South Australia. Centrally located with convenient access to the airport, ferry terminal, safe berth harbour, the main centre of commerce and all of the Islands tourist attractions, Kangaroo Island Lodge is a perfect destination.These poolside rooms have just completed (June 2014) a full upgrade including new bigger bathrooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature TV, refrigerator, radio and iron / ironing board. Bathrooms have a hair dryer.The Lodge Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and specialises in serving local cuisine and wines from Kangaroo Island.  There is a great selection with a daily changing special served by local staff in a beautiful surrounding. There is a fresco dining weather permitting.  This restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike. There is also a large BBQ area if guests would like to cook their own dinner or have the hotel chef do the cooking for you.  A special feather unique to KI is watching the amazing flock of Pelicans being hand fed while you enjoy a Full Lodge Breakfast with eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and KI's famous sheep's yoghurt on the foreshore right out the front of the Lodge.Built in the late 1800's Kangaroo Island Lodge is set in a natural landscaped garden of native Australian gums and shrubs. Building materials and colour schemes have been carefully chosen to harmonise with the natural surroundings. Positioned to take advantage of the panoramic water views, every room beckons tantalising views, whether you choose to wake to the serene oceanfront, bushland bird chorus or our cool saltwater pool.Medium sized lobby with seating area.  There is also a small shop and boutique selling clothes and souvenirs of Kangaroo Island.  The extremely friendly staff are happy to help you organise or book any hire car or tours of Kangaroo Island.The property has undergone an extensive renovation (completed June 2014) and now addresses the Lodge's 3 defining elements of ecological sustainability, local attractions and high comfort.
